La Paternal is a neighbourhood located in the northwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is named after the Hospital de la Paternal, which was built in the 19th century. La Paternal is mostly a residential area with a mix of low and middle-class housing and some commercial activity on its main streets. It is also home to the soccer stadium of Club Atlético Argentinos Juniors, known as "El Diego" in honour of Diego Maradona, who began his career at the club. The neighbourhood has several parks and green spaces, such as the Parque de la Ciudad, a large amusement park and the Plaza Martín Fierro, which hosts a weekly artisan fair. La Paternal is well-connected to other parts of the city by public transportation, including several bus lines, the subway, and the train.
